Aggregated Forest Management in Louisiana, USA
Taking a programmatic development approach, this project aggregates small, family-owned forestlands across Louisiana, western Mississippi, and southern Arkansas. While providing significant climate benefits through carbon sequestration, this project protects native forests that are vital to this ecologically rich region. Further co-benefits include improved water and soil health, and economic support for landowners and communities, thus, reducing pressure to clear or overharvest forests.

The project supports 48 landowners across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas. By substituting timber revenue for carbon revenue, landowners gain the stability to avoid liquidation, extend harvest rotations, and protect their forests.
Protecting the forests in this delta maintains a wealth of biodiversity, from black bears to the river otter, stabilises insect and pollinator populations, and sustains the overall health and resilience of local ecosystems.
The project area provides habitat along a major migratory corridor where over 40% of North America's waterfowl and 60% of all U.S. bird species travel or winter.
Forests in this region help maintain water quality and protect native species by acting as natural filters to capture pollutants and excess nutrients such as pesticides and fertilizers from agricultural fields before they enter rivers and streams.
